What I Learned.
I presented at The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC). I had the honor to present preliminary work on a national stage in Atlanta, Georgia. A comment I received had to do with the idea of removing questions about pain from the HCAHPS survey on the patient experience. This change is due to the national opioid crisis, and the need not to focus heavily on pain assessment. As I agree, we must not forget the underserved oncology population.

What I learned.
I presented at the New Directions Conference at Emory University. The project information was complete at this conference. I learned to differentiate between self-reporting for pain vs. tools used for patients who could self-report. In this project, I did not explain how nurses retrieved the numeric rating scale (NRS) which would be considered at limitation.
